Codemakers 101: An introduction to robotics and programming! Registration is NOW OPEN for Summer 2017!
From May 13th to August 5th 2017, this exciting weekend club exposes students to computer programming in a fun and engaging environment using Lego Mindstorms and Scratch!
How old do I need to be to join?
This program is for students who are currently in grades 4-7 (will be completing these grades as of June 2017).
This program runs every second Saturday, starting May 13th and running until August 5th (7 sessions) from 12-4pm.
Fall Session: $119 ($17/session)
So why should YOU join Codemakers 101 and explore the wonderful world of programming?
Programming is fun!
Can you dream it? Then you can program it!
In Codemakers 101, students will be given the tools to make their own movies, video games and robots!
Participants will use the online programming language Scratch and state-of-the-art Lego Mindstorms EV3 robots:
Scratch is fun and visual online programming language that allows students to easily create video games or movies and provides a nice introduction to the big, exciting world of programming!
EV3 Mindstorm robots are made of a toy that we're all familiar with, LEGO! It allows students to not only build their own robot, but make it come to life by programming it themselves with Lego's EV3 software.
Programming is important!
In the future, everyone will need to know how to code!
Not because every job will require programming (though software development talent is in short supply in the United States and Canada), but because programming teaches students how to solve problems, not just on a computer.
By thinking like a programmer, students learn to approach things from the bottom up, by breaking big problems into smaller, easier problems.
Coding has been called the most important skill to have in the 21st century
